Fall Newsletter 2026

Updated: 3 days ago
Hello to all!
I apologize for my inconsistency in writing newsletters. My goal is to improve in that area and to write them quarterly, as well as to share more regularly when we have a specific need or prayer request. For today, it will be a bit of a short one just to get everyone up to date on what’s happening, as well as to present a couple things we would appreciate prayer for!
As many of you know, since last I wrote (in the beginning of March), some of that time was spent in the States– Mario had the opportunity to work at a mechanic shop in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Texas. We were there for just over three months, and after our time there, we enjoyed some time in Wyoming and in Washington. God showed us much generosity through some wonderful people while we were in Texas, and our time in Wyoming and Washington was very sweet as we shared with my family and friends and got some time for recreation and rest. We have been home in Honduras for a month now, and we are glad to be back.
^^Some pictures from our time in the States, including Mario's workplace and the local church where I was warmly welcomed for a summer-long internship, with my kiddos in tow!
Before leaving for the States in May, much of Mario’s time was still taken up with the road project here in the village, and even now since we got home he has been helping to coordinate and oversee the finalization of the project. La Venta is unrecognizable! It is just now coming to the end of the work (it's had many "pauses" over the last year since it started, due to inefficiency and corruption within the government...), so Mario will have more available time in his day, thankfully! As per the usual for me, my time was mostly spent with all the daily relational side of ministry both through opening our home as well as things within the church. We’ve had the honor of seeing a lot of growth in many of our youths, and that has been such an encouragement. Also before we left for the States we were able to facilitate an exciting project at the church– a classroom for the children’s ministry! We are so grateful for the generosity that made it possible, and it has been a huge blessing to have that space! Since we got home almost a month ago, I have been able to jump back into my main focus areas– youth ministry, hosting, my different roles behind the scenes at church, and back with leading the worship team. The school year here is switched, so our youth are about to start their extended break. I’m hoping to be able to take advantage of having more time with them and do some more focused discipleship with the ones that have began to cultivate a relationship with Jesus.

We are currently preparing to receive a small team from Cody. This team will be a huge blessing for our church as the project it is going to focus on will be the bathrooms! It will be so good to have that project done. We also plan on doing some activities to get them involved with the community, such as a game night open to all the local youth, some light-hearted soccer playing (although I don’t know that “light-hearted soccer” is culturally possible, ha!), and perhaps an evening for sharing testimonies and enjoying communion with our fellowship here. Please keep this team in your prayers as they travel, serve, and get outside of their comfort zones! I also ask for prayer for us and for our community of faith here as we’ve had some heavy things to navigate since coming back, and it has been somewhat discouraging. It’s not really only my information to disclose, so for now I will just say we definitely need prayer!
Thank you all for your love, support, and prayers. All glory to Him in Whom we live and move and have our being! May He be magnified in each of us.
Katie
