Dear Friends and Family,

I am very late in getting this newsletter written– after years of praying, waiting, questioning, jumping through hoops, and more praying, Mario’s visa was approved! So the last two months have involved a lot of preparation, the trip up, and then adjusting to life in Wyoming for the summer. Praise Jesus! Mario has been able to acclimate to a totally different climate, culture, and language quite well. I am proud of him! Since getting here, he has experienced a lot of “firsts”, including: a lot of wildlife, snow, meeting family, shooting guns, Yellowstone National Park, and even bowling, haha! He has enjoyed pretty much everything, but misses his Honduran food every day!

As for news from Honduras before coming up to the States in the beginning of April, life was pretty much the same as usual. Much of our time was dedicated to all the different aspects of running the church and its various ministries, along with some of the other church leaders. There has been a lot of growth within the people of our little local fellowship, and it is always such a privilege to witness. There has been an increasing focus on discipleship, and many people have gotten involved with that and are experiencing God in a whole new way. We love getting to be a part of all of it and we are definitely missing our little “church family”.

Mario was also very busy with many different community projects and needs, including working hard to get two major government-funded undertakings approved that will potentially completely change life in La Venta: a new well dug to provide running water for the community every day, and pavement for the whole stretch of what is currently dirt road coming off the highway into La Venta (roughly 2+ miles). Although it is extremely time-consuming, sometimes mentally exhausting and draining, and a completely voluntary position (not paid at all), Mario does it with joy, love, and generosity. And all for the glory of God! It is an expansion of ministry and testimony, and allows him to serve even more people on a larger scale. I am so proud of him!

Mario will be going back to Honduras next week to continue working on the projects of water and of paving the road, and at the end of his month of being there, he will be co-leading a team from Indiana with my dad. Please be praying for his travel (first time alone!), his time in Honduras to be fruitful, and for me being here in Wyoming with our kids and working.

One of the things I’m hoping to work on while being here in Wyoming for the summer is to increase the support we receive through FSI: for our monthly income; to raise funds for different projects we hope to be able to do within the community and our church; and also to be able to pay off some of the debt we have (this is the main reason, too, that we are trying to take advantage of the opportunity to work as much as we can while we are in the States!). If you are interested in partnering with us in any of these areas and want more information/details, don’t hesitate to reach out! We would also be extremely grateful if there would be any churches and/or small groups that would like to help us with any of the above-mentioned needs.

To those of you who already support us, thank you so much. We would not be able to do what we do without God’s faithfulness that He shows us through the generosity and kindness of His people. Time and time again we are humbled, encouraged, and left speechless as we experience His goodness to us, and your willingness to come alongside us in ministry. Thank you.

Bendiciones y amor!

Katie, Mario, Vienne, and Asher
