Fall Newsletter, October 2023
Blessings, dear friends and family!
Time is flying! I can’t believe it’s already been three months since I last wrote. Before I know it, I’ll be writing the next one with another baby on my hip. How crazy! Vienne and I will be heading up to Cody in November to get ready for Baby’s arrival in December. Mario had his visa interview in September, but that is an ongoing process and prayer request— his visa was not approved, but it was not denied either. Long story short, we simply have more hoops to jump through. It’s been frustrating and discouraging, but I’m hopeful that next year I’ll be able to finally take him to the States with me.
Since last I wrote, we’ve had various guests— first a friend of ours, Jace, came to stay a couple of weeks in July, then a small team from Outpost Community Church came over a weekend in August, and then my parents came down for a bit to celebrate the wedding of some of our dear friends, Eduardo and Sofia. We’ve also had a few projects around the house that we’ve gotten done, the most exciting one being our cafe space for Taza de Gozo! We just opened for the first time on Sunday since having started the project. So much fun! We now have a ping-pong table and a foosball table, so there was an incredible amount of shouting and laughter. I finally had to run the last of our friends out to be able to get Vienne to bed! While my parents were here, we were able to have a night of worship to dedicate the space for ministry and the Lord. It was beautiful!
Aside from our guests and Taza de Gozo, we are staying busy with the various church activities we have going on throughout the week, and in the month of September we had various celebrations, including two national holidays: “Children’s Day” and “Pastor’s Day”. Another highlight from the last few months was an afternoon of Taza de Gozo coffee and fellowship with our friends at Teen Challenge. We got to do that with our friend, Jace, and it was such fun. Hours of coffee-making nonstop and a sweet time of sharing with all of them. What a blessing that ministry has been to us in fellowship and encouragement--Hebrews 10:24-25.
I’ve already addressed a couple of the prayer requests that I had in my previous newsletter— Mario’s visa and the Outpost team (which was great! We’re hopeful for a positive partnership with them and Iglesia Bíblica Rey de Gracia.). The other two were our youth group, which continues to be a prayer request as well as an area of such joy for us. Our youth are so great, and there has been a lot of movement of the Spirit and softening of their hearts. And the other one was for provision for our church as we take on the loan for a property— our first payment is due in December and we are humbled and grateful as we see the ways God provides through our small fellowship and their generosity.
To continue praying for us,
Mario’s visa (open doors and approval in God’s timing)
The upcoming trip to Cody with Vienne to wait for Baby to arrive (protection for me and Mario as we will be apart again for an undetermined amount of time, as well as for Vienne in that change, I’m hoping the process for the passport for this baby doesn’t take as long as it did with Vienne, so pray for that too!)
As a church, we are in the process of working on getting estimates for a church building, so for the Lord’s provision as we move forward with that!
Thank you for partnering with us in this life of ministry, we couldn’t do any of it without God’s generosity and faithfulness to us through you. I pray for His faithfulness and generosity to be known to each of you richly!
With love,
Katie
