July Newsletter

Dear Friends and Family,

Happy July! In May, I was writing from my parents’ table in Cody, Wyoming, in June I wrote from my living room in La Venta, Honduras, and currently I am writing in a small, quiet coffee shop in Antigua, Guatemala. Mario and I left La Venta last Tuesday and got into Antigua on Wednesday (driving in Central America is quite an adventure— Antigua is only about 275 miles away from La Venta, but it took us two days to get here!). My parents flew into Guatemala City on Thursday and we shared a week full of exploring Antigua, enjoying the architecture and food and coffee together, and this morning we said our goodbyes as they headed back to Cody. What a treat to have gotten that time together. Mario and I will be here in this area for the next ten days to two weeks partnering with another ministry and we’re so excited for it. I’ll write all about it in my next newsletter!

June was a good month, one with worship nights and one-on-one discipleship mostly. We also got to start the second semester of our Bible college course/discipleship program (INSTE). We’re now a few weeks in and it’s so great! It’s also possible that we’ll start mentoring a new group with INSTE upon going back to Honduras, Lord willing! This time in Guatemala has already been good for us in helping us to develop more ideas and hopes for the ministry we’re doing in La Venta, and we’re getting all kinds of inspiration for our cafe as well and how we can use it for ministry. We didn’t open the cafe at all in June mostly due to weather and losing power often, but we’re hoping to brainstorm some ideas on how to work despite those difficulties. Our most limiting problems right now have to do with space and having our own area. We do ask for prayers for God’s provision in that, specifically that He would open the doors for a better housing option. We love the house we’re currently renting, but we don’t have much freedom in it, nor is it an option for having a cafe there. I’ve mentioned before a house we’re hoping will become available, and have been waiting on since before we even got married, but still it is occupied. The family that is currently in it seems to be working towards moving to a different part of Honduras, so we’re hoping that that may happen sooner rather than later and we would have the space and the location to have our cafe and base our ministry there. Please be praying for that, or that God would open other doors and provide another option for us.

We are so thankful for your support and prayers and are, as always, encouraged and humbled by it all. We hope that the Lord blesses you each abundantly and reveals Himself more and more to you as Faithful and Good and Kind.

Bendiciones,

Katie and Mario
