Dear friends and family, happy June!
I am totally behind, and for that I apologize! I should’ve written a newsletter a couple of months ago, but it seems like every time I go to start writing it, someone needs something or the power goes out or some other interruption happens. In May, I had one technical complication after another, including my computer being ruined by Vienne thinking it would be a good idea to pee on it— true story! Thankfully it was already close to the end of its life anyway, haha! All that to say, life has been moving along and I finally am writing this update. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
So much has happened since last I wrote, the main thing being that Vienne, Asher, and I made it safely back to Honduras in the end of January (it feels like a lifetime ago!). We were accompanied by my sister, Sarah, and my niece, Lily. I can’t imagine how I would’ve done it without their help! It was also such a treat to have them down that first week of readjusting.
Other big news is that construction on phase one on the church is finished! The work team finished the last week of April. So exciting! We still have the final details left of painting the walls, polishing the floor, and getting the electricity installed. Mario has been working hard on getting plans made for those final things and running numbers, and we are so excited to have it all finished and to be able to move in. We might have it done just in time to celebrate our second anniversary as a church. Who would have thought back when we were gathering in our living room two years ago that this is where we would be now!? God is so good! I will make a video here soon of how the church turned out, as well as some of our needs to get those final things covered and be able to move in. The rainy season is starting and we are looking forward to being in a building and not an old circus tent!
The first couple of months of being back for me were mostly ones of adjusting to life with two little ones. What a privilege it is to be their momma. I love it! However it is a challenge to go from having constant support living with my parents to not really having any help in the day-to-day, especially with Mario being so busy with the church project, some days being from sunrise until the kids were in bed. I also was able to spend some time at the project and take coffee and treats to the work team. Since finishing with the construction and Mario being home more, I’ve been able to reopen the cafe and also start selling baked goods throughout the week, so it was good practice to be doing it for the guys working on the church! I also have been able to continue helping with youth group and started a small Bible study with some other young women at church, but I did step back from the worship team as this is not really the season for it, sadly. However, Mario has continued to serve on the worship team playing guitar. That is a fun area of his gifting that I love to see him thrive in. He’s also gotten Vienne very into playing his ukulele alongside him during worship practice! It is darling.
Also since coming back, we’ve gotten to have some visitors in March, April, and in May, and we are looking forward to some friends from Cody coming down next week for about ten days. We have some great projects planned to do with them that will really bless a family in our church, and I look forward to sharing more about that in my next newsletter! I have loved getting to host, and am looking forward to more of it this summer.
Thank you all for your support and prayers. We are so grateful for each of you who encourage us and partner with us in any way, it means so much to us and makes all the difference! Here are some specific things you can be praying for when you think of us:
The final details of the church project— that we can finish them all soon and be moved into our new church building!
For God to bring in more people and use us to represent Him well as ambassadors of His Kingdom.
Mario’s visa process has moved forward some towards positive results, but we are once again in a time of waiting. Please be praying that we would get answers within the next few days and for open doors. I am really hoping that this might finally be the year to get him up to the States!
Again, thank you all for the love and support you show us. We are so blessed. May each of you also feel the love and kindness of our good Father!
With love,
Katie
