Dear Friends and Family,
My last newsletter was written from my parents’ dining room table in Cody, but I’m now back in my own living room, trying to readjust to the Honduran heat after a chilly month in Wyoming. I got back to Honduras just a few days ago and am hoping that the rainy season comes soon because I am not doing well with the heat!
I talked about the conference I went to in Dallas in my last letter, so picking up from there, I headed up to Cody and that first weekend in May, we had a Brewhaha. For those of you who don’t know, the Brewhaha is a coffee-themed fundraising event that my family put together last year with the hopes of it becoming an annual thing; this was year #2. The Brewhaha was loads of fun and extremely encouraging. Lots of people came, there were yummy snacks, and I spent the entirety of the afternoon making coffee drinks for beloved friends and family that came to support me. It was a great way to start the month, thank you so much to each of you who came and were a part of that. It really was such a huge blessing for me!
Following the Brewhaha, my mom and I made a quick trip up to Washington State to visit family and friends up there, then back to Cody to spend the rest of my time in the States working almost daily (praise Jesus!) and enjoying time with my friends and family and community there.
While I was gone, Mario continued with the activities that he could do on his own, such as his one-on-one discipleship and continuing with Bible studies, and now that I’m back we’d like to get back into doing more worship nights again like we did in the fall last year. We also had the pleasure of finishing the first semester of the Bible school/discipleship program we’re doing and we’re currently just waiting on getting the books for the second semester. Everyone in our group did a great job and each of us were hugely impacted and blessed by the first semester and can’t wait to start the next one!
Thank you everyone for your prayers and support! We are so thankful for your partnership with us in those areas. Please continue to pray for us and for the Lord’s wisdom and guidance in our lives and marriage and ministry. Please also be praying for God to allow Mario’s visa to go through-- the application is in and we’re currently just waiting on them to get back to us and to schedule a day for his interview. Lord willing, he will be approved and I’ll finally get to take him up to Wyoming with me! Please be praying specifically that it would go through by November because… we’re expecting! Baby King Velasquez is due November 23rd and I’ll travel up to Cody to have it there, so we’re praying like crazy that the Lord would open doors and allow Mario to get his visa before that. We’re excited for the upcoming season of parenthood but more than ever are going to need all the prayers we can get!;)
Love and blessings to each of you,
Katie and Mario
